Austin Geriatric Specialists
Austin Geriatric Specialists is a group of health care providers dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate geriatric care. Our practice consists of board certified internal medicine, family practice, and geriatric physicians as well as advanced practice nurses with special training in geriatrics. Our practice has been serving Austin and the surrounding communities for over 25 years.
Our practitioners are strong advocates for the frail geriatric patient, both individually as well as a group. Our physicians have served as past-president of the Travis County Medical Society, past-president of Texas Medical Directors Association, chairman of the TCMS Geriatric Committee, and have been the recipients of numerous awards, including the 2014 Travis County Medical Society Physician of the Year award. We participate in geriatric research and education, and have presented numerous posters at national conferences in recent years as well as participated in a National Institute on Aging clinical trial. Our president is currently the Chief of the Division of Geriatrics at the University of Texas Dell Medical School. In addition, several of our physicians are also on faculty with both UT Dell and Texas A and M school of Medicine, teaching geriatrics to their medical students and residents. Many of our practitioners also have special training in end of life care, and our staff includes physicians board certified in palliative and hospice medicine. Our practice currently cares for patients in post-acute care facilities including skilled nursing facilities and long-term care facilities, assisted-living facilities, and has a small group of home care patients. In addition, we provide palliative care inpatient consultations at Seton Medical Center Williamson, Seton Medical Center Hays, and Seton Northwest.
